Along sections of the scenic and often times thrilling Chattahoochee River some of the region's best whitewater rafting can be found. A number of professional outfitters and guides are available.
The Chattahoochee National Forest and the Appalachian Trail provide a variety of hiking trails from a pleasure hike to a strenuous climb.
Clarkesville - The Mountain Laurel Festival, the oldest mountain festival in Georgia, is held here every May.
Demorest- This historic village was founded in 1889 by a group of settlers determined to build a model town without alcohol that could become an educational center. Many older homes remain including one of the most historic church buildings in North Georgia.
Tallulah Gorge - The largest canyon east of the Grand Canyon, this gorge is 1,200' in some areas. Magnificent waterfalls at the Tallulah Gorge State Park welcome visitors.
