Fox River Resort is situated along the shores of the Fox River. The riverside preserve is located near the town of Norway, the first Norwegian settlement in the United States. The gentle rolling hills and seven-acre stocked lake provide an ideal environment for outdoor activities such as canoeing, fishing, swimming, miniature golf and tennis.

Chicago, only an hour away, offers museums, a planetarium, the Art Institute, an aquarium, two zoos and sight-seeing at Navy pier.
Springfield offers historic showcases of many homes, Lincoln's tomb, Lincoln's former home and the capitol building. Also, nearby New Salem park is a fully-restored village with the store where Lincoln worked. Paddleboat rides are offered on the nearby river. Near the park are casino boats in Joliet or Aurora. Antique hunting up and down Route 34 or in the nearby towns of Ottawa and Marseilles will keep you busy for hours.
Ottawa is the site of the 150 year celebration of the historic I & M canal and home of the memorial and grave site of W.D. Boyce, the founder of the Boy Scouts of America.
